villagetovillage.net connects groups of people in the United States with third-world villages. We encourage long-standing relationships between American and poor "villages" through e-mail, trips, and donations.

villagetovillage.net was started after returning from our first trip to India in 2002. "The need there is so great. Charities make a big difference, but just asking people to write a check isn't getting the job done."

Our leaders observed that a person is much more likely to help meet the needs in a distant country if two things happen:
the person gets to know the people with the needs, and
the person is part of a group helping to meet the needs.

We have have found that our work is most effective when we begin by establishing relationships with accountable and established indigenous contacts in the villages.
