Think about the groups you may belong to: a work group, a sports team, a club, or a church home group, perhaps. Maybe you have a group of clients or customers. Maybe you lead a group associated with your children, such as a Girl Scout troop.
What would it do for your group to have a mission outside of itself? What if your group could relate with a similar group in a third-world area, such as rural India? It might bring the group together and infuse it with new dedication and excitement.
VillagetoVillage.net can link your group with a similar group in rural India to meet a fundamental need that group has.
VillagetoVillage.net calls these groups - both American and Indian - "villages." By "village" we mean a group of people relating together on a regular basis, including a family. Maybe the Indian "village" is a group of widows who finds it hard to find enough food to eat. Maybe the "village" is a small geographic area in dire need of a well. Your group will feel "empowered" by the purchasing power of its resources - empowered to make a vast difference in village life!
If you're interested in having your village connect with a third-world village, take these steps:
1. Contact us about your interest. We'll let you know what needs we know of that your group might meet! We'll also send you some literature to share with your group.
2. Discuss your group's participation with your group. If your group agrees to participate, have the group elect a "village elder" and have the elder contact us. (A "village elder" is the group's chief contact with the Indian village your group is connecting with, and with us.)
3. We'll initiate contact between the villages and funnel your group's resources to the village for the agreed-upon purpose. We'll help your village establish regular communication with the Indian village as well.
